I’m getting the hang of Outlook 2007 and I’m trying to really use the “To-Do Bar” more effectively. I’m using it to track all my open items that need to get done. I do most of my effort tracking through email. When something comes to my inbox, if I need to make it a task I mark the flag for follow-up.
I ran into a problem recently with regard to personal folders. I use my rules to dump messages into personal folders instead of storing them on the Exchange server. When I try to track these messages as new tasks they wouldn’t show up in the To-Do Bar.
Right click on your Personal Folder and select “Properties for ‘Personal Folder’”…
Make certain the box is checked for “Display reminders and tasks from this folder in the To-Do Bar”. Hit “OK”.
Now if you select any message for follow-up, it should appear in your To-Do Bar as a new task.
