IU Kelley MBA – C511

C511 kicked off today. It’s the start of the course work for the in-residence cohort experience. The course focuses on Organizational Development & Change. Sheri Fella (the Prof) is asking us to look at why organizations change and how organizations approach change.

Rooted!

I’ve successfully rooted my Motorola Droid!

The only hiccup I had was getting the RSD Lite app to get the firmware file loaded. Seems as though there was a path issue. I copied it to C:\ and it took off without any issues.

Follow these Lifehacker instructions and you shouldn’t have any problems.

Phoenix Public Transit and Web 2.0

In a recent report by Marketplace, it was reported that the city of Boston’s MBTA recently released a public, web-based service interface to allow anyone to find out transit information and the location of city buses.  I listened to that report and thought, “If I could do that in Phoenix, I’d probably ride the bus more often.”  And I bet I’m not the only person who has had the same thought.

So I expressed my thoughts to Phoenix Valley Metro in the hopes that they might listen.

Screw the update, I’m rooting it

As some of you know, I’m a big fan of Android and absolutely love my Motorola Droid.  I had been a loyal VZW subscriber for years and when they finally got a respectable smart phone (non-Windoze), I jumped at it.

I’ve been absolutely thrilled with my Droid since I picked it up in  November ’09.  The apps have been steadily improving and the free OS updates have made the phone consistently better.  That is until today.

Today I read the following:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/02/motorola-says-original-droid-doesnt-have-the-hardware-to-supp/

The gist is the Motorola Droid won’t have mobile wifi hotspot or tethering support.  This is a bunch of garbage since every Droid that has been root’d (hacked and now runs custom firmware) can easily support wifi hotspot and tethering.

Screw the update!  I’m rooting my Droid and loading a custom firmware of Android 2.2.

I’m a Hoosier

I got accepted to the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.  I’ll be getting my MBA via Kelley Direct.  Working from abroad and spending a few weeks on campus.

I begin classes August 2010 with a week in-residence.
